Salter and Dodds Raise Funds for Multiple Sclerosis at the Reading Half Marathon
On Sunday 21st March Martin Salter, Labour MP for Reading West and Anneliese Dodds, Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for Reading East, successfully completed the Corporate Relay Challenge in the Reading Half Marathon in aid of the Berkshire Multiple Sclerosis Therapy Centre. The two other team members, Nick Stringer and Cameron Miller who work in Mr Salter’s constituency office formed the Labour Party foursome and each ran a three and a quarter mile leg of the race under the name of ‘Martin’s Midnight Runners’.
Mr Salter and Ms Dodds have set up a Justgiving page to help raise as much money as possible for the Berkshire Multiple Sclerosis Therapy Centre. It can be found at www.justgiving.com/Martin-Salter-MP. Mr Salter, Patron of the charity, took part in the half marathon for the last time as a Member of Parliament.
Mr Salter said:-
“I was pleased at my age to have completed my section of the race without injury or without stopping. However my bones will be aching like hell for several days afterwards. It was great to be invited to run in this year’s Reading Half Marathon ad I couldn’t turn down the opportunity to raise money for the Berkshire Multiple Sclerosis Therapy Centre, one of my favourite local charities, who do such an excellent job for those suffering from this dreadful condition”.
Anneliese Dodds, Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for Reading East added:-
“The Reading Half Marathon is a great event for our town. It brings hundreds of visitors to Reading and most importantly raises thousands of pounds for charity. As ever, this year there were many inspiring performances from both serious athletes and people who had overcome incredible physical challenges in order to take part. I was very pleased to be able to participate to raise funds for Berkshire’s own MS Therapy Centre, which does so much to help local people with MS”.
