Reading West MP Martin Salter joined the Dean of Reading Canon Brian Shenton to launch a hard-hitting exhibition on the horrors of racism, war and genocide on Monday 25^th January at Reading’s Broad Street Mall. The exhibition entitled ‘Anne Frank - A History for Today’ was sponsored by Reading Borough Council and Reading Council for Racial Equality and tells the story of this Jewish girl’s account of the persecution by the Nazis in World War II.

Mr Salter made a short speech and lit a candle in memory of the six million who died at the hands of the Nazis.

Martin Salter said:-

“At a time when we are seeing the growth of extremist political parties in Britain, in particular the BNP, who pedal a message of racial hatred and intolerance it is good to remind people of the consequences of this doctrine of poison. We all have to share this planet and by now we should have learnt how to get along with one another irrespective of race or religion.
