Salter Set to Re-Launch Dingley Children’s Centre
The Labour MP for Reading West, Martin Salter, will be re-launching the Dingley Family & Specialist Early Years Centre on Thursday 2nd June at 10.30am. Due to officially open its new premises on Kenavon Drive, the charity has formally invited Mr Salter to ‘cut the ribbon’ and to officially declare the building ‘open’.
More commonly known as the ‘Dingley Centre’, its staff and supporters have provided an outstanding facility for young people with additional needs for many years. The Centre offers facilities to children from birth to five years old with additional needs and disabilities, and provides parents with the chance to share experiences and to make new friends. The children are encouraged to have fun in a safe and secure environment using art, story telling and music as learning tools. Thursday’s event is a great opportunity to celebrate the beginning of an exciting new time for the Dingley Centre and to raise much needed funding to continue to provide specialist staff. There will also be an opportunity to meet “Fred in the Shred”, buy food and drink, and to join in on the many games and activities planned throughout the day.
Mr Salter said:-
“The Dingley Centre is an outstanding charity which serves local children with additional needs and disabilities incredibly well. There is no doubt that the new building will enable the Centre to continue to deliver specific and specialised support for so many families in Reading”.
Liz McDaniel, Group Administrator & Marketing Assistant for the Charity said:-
“At 10.30 Martin Salter MP will be cutting the ribbon and will then be talking to parents, staff and Trustees about the work we do at Dingley Family and Specialist Early Years Centres. During the day Dingley children will have lots of treats and to make the day extra special for them Reading Footballer Ivar Ingimarsson will be running a coaching session in the afternoon. Having worked with Martin in the past, when he helped to launch another local charity that I was involved with, I feel his input into the occasion is vitally important in raising the profile of the Centre. Now we have this lovely large setting we are aiming to help even more children to realise their full potential and I am looking forward to showing Martin around our wonderful facilities”.
