Ned Ludd No More
Reading West MP Martin Salter has today launched his revamped website at www.martinsalter.com.
A self-confessed “Luddite”, Mr Salter confessed to finding some aspects of the new technology confusing but recognises the importance of communicating through the web. He has had his own website since he was first elected in 1997 but took it down last year because it had become outdated and was increasingly difficult to easily upload new material.
Launching today, the new website contains details of Mr Salter’s local and Parliamentary work, as well as information to residents on how to get involved in some of his ongoing campaigns including preserving the green gap at Pincents Hill, the campaign for Gurkhas’ rights, and his opposition to a third runway at Heathrow, on which subject he spoke in the Chamber last week. It also has details of his surgeries, contact details, and press material.
Mr Salter said:-
“My website has been under construction for about twelve months now, but owing to staff shortages and changeover, it’s been put on the back burner. I’m delighted that it’s now up and running, and I hope that it will provide a useful resource for Reading residents. All I need to do now is to learn how to switch on a computer and I will be able to gaze adoringly at my own work, just like all those other MPs.”
Mr Salter confirmed that he had no immediate plans to start blogging, establish a Facebook page, or waste time on Twitter, much to the relief of his staff.
